Sovranty Bengal Cats - Midwest |
Below are photos of Bullmastiff puppy "Sunrayz Tzarina of Sovranty" and Bengal kittens. "Tzina" is six months old, and the kittens with her are twelve weeks old. In most of the photos, the kittens are behind Tzina, they are waiting to play one of their favorite games, catch the wagging tail! Tzina usually obliges :-) Why a Bullmastiff puppy?
Bullmastiff's and Bengals!

We have always been animal lover's, and though experienced with the demands of
breeding (we also raise Egyptian Arabians and of course, Bengal kittens) after
our two adopted mixed breed dogs passed away (from old age), we just had not
seen "the dog" that seemed meant for us. We did not plan on breeding
dogs...that is until we traveled to Washington, D.C. to visit a long time friend
from college, and while there, happened to be fortunate to also visit the brand
new litter of Bullmastiff puppies. After we arrived home, we asked to see
pictures of the puppies as they grew--we had been captivated by this wonderful
breed. That first "enchantment" led to complete falling in love when
we saw one certain photo, one precious little face "spoke" to us
.
Our daughter's, myself and John found that "The Puppy" would come up again and
again in daily conversation, then we would go look at the photo, and it was
always "wow"! Finally, we mentioned to our friends how much we
completely admired "The Puppy". A day or two later, we were incredibly
honored to be offered co-ownership in the puppy who is now "Sunrayz Tzarina of
Sovranty"! It was an easy decision to say "yes" even though we
had no direct experience breeding Bullmastiff's! We have much experience
breeding Bengals and Arabians, and we are able to see well bred, high quality
puppies when we see them! Of course, it helped a lot that Sunrayz
Bullmastiff's breeding philosophies are so similar to ours here at Sovranty
Bengals. The Bullmastiff puppies were the product of intensive, critical
research of Bullmastiff bloodlines, temperament, health, conformation and
performance. All factors being studied meticulously. Both parents had
multiple OFA health clearance tests performed and passed with high marks (a
standard we will maintain with future puppies bred at Sovranty). Both
parents have Championships (and both are from long lines of champions), and have
had Obedience training among other specialized training. Sunrayz puppies
are raised in home - never kenneled, again, a practice that we approve of
adamantly with our Bengal Cats. Sunrayz never breeds more animals
than can be maintained with happiness, good health, and personalized attention -
we concur :-) (The leading cause of disease among pedigreed animals is
not, as most people think, "overbreeding" genetically (though this does happen),
it is overbreeding in "quantity". It is almost impossible to maintain good
health, good socialization and individual attention in an over-crowded breeding
situation.
Besides the breeding of this Bullmastiff puppy being done by ethical, responsible and loving breeder's, we also greatly admire the Bullmastiff itself! We really had no idea that there existed a large breed dog that could be happy in a home or apartment environment without getting "cabin fever" (they are very mellow dogs and the same amount of exercise that keeps us healthy will keep a Bullmastiff healthy). Bullmastiff's are shorthaired and do not seem to shed much (hmmm, as are the Bengals....is it telling that housework is not one of my favorite tasks :-) Bullmastiff's are friendly, loyal and loving, protective of their owner's without being randomly aggressive (though one should always have their dog properly trained, or train with it) --- a mellow, happy temperament is inherent, and can be controlled by the breeder, knowing what is good manners v. bad is not, and is the responsibility of the owner to instill, not the dog to already know - T'zina has been to Puppy kindergarten (obedience training), she knows how to sit, lay down, come, stay, potty appropriately, heel etc.). Bullmastiff's are also simply beautiful to look at! They have a quiet, statuesque grace that is breathtaking when they "strike a pose". Their eyes are quite soulful, altogether a very pleasing sight to come home to.
Again, thank you Dr. K. Wanke (and Dr. E. Augustson) of Sunrayz Bullmastiff's, Washington, D.C. for allowing us to share in this wonderful Bullmastiff experience with T'zina! We at Sovranty applaud your puppies, as well as your breeding philosophies!
Now here are more photos! We hope you enjoy! - Sovranty Bengal Cats
